Apurva Dalal is an accomplished technologist and global engineering leader with over 20 years of experience in building and scaling product development organizations. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the tech industry, including Uber, Google, eBay, UrbanLadder, and WebMD. Apurva has a proven track record of delivering world-class products with distributed teams in the USA and India. At Uber, Apurva was the site lead and one of the initial hires in India. He started Uber's Engineering in Bangalore and grew it to 300+ technologists with 10+ functional areas. He collaborated with Uber CTO's office to strategically build out multiple teams at Uber Bangalore, including India growth, rider, maps, ad tech, marketplace, and customer obsession. Apurva's teams delivered on some of the most impactful, global initiatives for Uber, including Uber Lite, Uber Bus, Rider Growth, Uber Rent, Maps Intelligence, Call2Ride, and Ad Tech Data Management Platform rewrite. He also partnered with distributed site leadership globally to come up with best practices for distributed sites and remote engineering at Uber. Apurva has hands-on technical competence required to build scalable distributed systems, big data, data sciences, analytics systems, and machine learning. He specializes in building and scaling product development organizations from zero to hundreds of talented engineers. Apurva is an investor/advisor for startups, including Snapshopr. He has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from V.E.S.I.T and an MBA in Business Management from The University of Dallas. Currently, Apurva is the India Engineering Site Director at Twitter, where he is responsible for hiring engineers, PMs, UX, DS, and researchers. He is passionate about building high-performing teams and helping them deliver innovative solutions that solve complex problems.
